Pino Lancetti was a famous Italian fashion designer who gained great fame by the way he applied art in his designs. He incorporated into his clothing designs which were based on the paintings of great artists in which Sonia Delaunay, Modigliani, Matisse, Picasso and Kandinsky were his favorites.
Lancetti was born on 27 november 1928 in the town of Gualdo Tadino and originally started his career as a painter of ceramics.
Lancetti started in the fifties of the last century with the design of garments and in 1954 he started a small studio that designed for a number of famous fashion houses.
In 1961 he opened a salon in Rome, a city which at that time a haven for the jet set of that time and up to half of the seventies Pino Lancetti is to be seen at fashion shows of the top designers of the world and especially in Japan was his work very popular.
Among his clients Lancetti counted many celebrities including Paola, the king of Belgium and Italian filmdivas like Silvana Mangano.
Around 1990 blew Lancetti new life into his business and signed new contracts and created new labels before selling the companyl.
Even after the the company employed famous designers, among them , the Brazilian Icarius de Menezes, who for two years has been creative director.
The Alta Moda in 2000 rewarded him with an award for his entire work.
Pino Lancetti died on March 7, 2007.
